corner view:: music

I spent many years where music, performance, and art were "my life". Years of singing and playing in bands, recording studios, going to school for audio engineering and music business, exhibiting my paintings when I could, working with bands, going to see friends shows, performing in shows (twirling fire). I have an awesome back stage pass collection and tons of crazy stories. I even had some famous rock star roommates a bazillion years ago.

But these days I march to the beat of a different drummer. Well, WE do. In fact, we are the drummer. While our iPod is a permanent fixture with us at home or in the car and we are often singing along at the top of our lungs together as we travel down the highway, we prefer making our own music.

And that is the best music of all!

I love your pictures and your commentary. Yes, making our own music and marching to our own drum can be the most fun of all. Thanks for sharing!

Twirling fire?!! You are full of surprises!
I'd love to know which famous roommates you've had... but it looks as if you're not telling.
Hmmm....
Madonna perhaps?:)

Anet - Well, it was two members of a band that have the word "Pumpkins" in the name and are from Chicago. ;)

The photos are perfect and captured the sounds of wonderful music to my ears. I love the voices and music little ones make. Thanks. xoxo

Kid made music is usually the most fun and funny. My little one sings opera in the bath.
I want to see the fire twirling!

Denise, I used to study music, too, classical though. It was my first major in college. Now I live vicariously through my husband. But I would like to find it in me again. Like you said, making your own music is fun and fulfilling. I'd like to have some backyard revelry but need a little more confidence before I reach out....

So interesting! And let me tell you.. that last picture melted my heart. So adorable!

Jenell-Cool! Yes, I started with more classical experience as well...began singing at a young age and studied Opera for many years. As I got older I loved the creative freedom that alternative music allowed for.

I LOVE watching kids explore sound, melody, and rhythm, with the freedom to experiment and play with it...SO fun. :)

Cool! I worked part-time in a recording studio for five or six years about a lifetime ago, but all classical with a bit of jazz.

What an interesting life you've lead - maybe you can tell us a story or two someday? In the meanwhile, let's sing at the top of our lungs :)

it's funny but in all the shots I was thinking of for this weeks selection - a harmonica was the one I wanted but couldn't find. Thanks for sharing!
