some G time.

A has been sick and on the couch for the last 2 days, and so G and I have been doing all kinds of things together so that A can have some peace and quiet and rest.

One project has been pulling things in from the garden since the temps look like they will dip into the 30s at night this week. The end is near. We have been dehydrating trays (and trays) of herbs, pulling pumpkins and squash, and retrieving the daily basket of the last tomatoes, raspberries and cucumbers of the season. He loves picking things, identifying plants and snipping flowers for our nature table.

He has also been enjoying doing "his own" crafts - today for one project he painted some ceramic leaves with great fall colors.

While the boys are an amazing duo and love each other dearly, it is also interesting to see G sparkle with the quiet one on one time. And he really loves taking care of his big brother and making sure he is comfortable...or maybe he just likes operating the ice maker and the digital thermometer! ;)

ahhh I'm Jealous you guys are already at the 30's?! I know you would say you wouldn't like it much if you lived here. *) The craft is super. I love it, its going to look great hanging. We are just starting to get some fall weather down here in NC so we can start our kiddos on fall crafting.

I think one of the challenges of homeschooling is figuring out how to work in one-on-one time with each of kids. I think you put it so well--they just seem to bloom with the undivided attention that is honestly so rare.

The ceramic leaf turned out beautifully. I'm sorry to hear G isn't feeling well. I do love that rare on on one time with one kid as well. I'm always reminded of the unique qualities that I love about each child during these times.

G always looks so sweet. I am sure he is tickled to have some momma time alone and he truly loves taking care of his brother. It is surely the "crud" time of year, we've all been knocked out with it this past week. I hope he feels better soon.

Hope A feels better soon. Nice time spent with G. The bouquet is just lovely!
I'm so bummed :( My pumpkin vines all shriveled up. Oh well, I guess it's a trip to the pumpkin farm for us!:)

Where did you get the ceramic leaves? I went to AC Moore tonight & they don't have ceramic leaves (or any ceramic blanks at all). The horror! I think I've said it before, but I love your blog, your sunny outlook, your clear affection for your boys. --Nancy in NC

Thanks everyone - he is feeling a bit better today and it doesn't seem to have spread!

Barbara & Dawn - so true. A usually gets one on one time because he goes to bed later than his little brother, but G not too often!

Nancy - I believe it was Hobby Lobby...I found them when I was looking for that Wonder Knitting Nancy! :)

Hope those cooties move through quickly and everyone is back to 100%. Great project. We have been thinking of doing something similar with a real leaf and clay.

This might not sound quite right to say, but some of our most memorable days are when someone isn't feeling well. Excepting the very-ill days, when one is on the couch, the swirl of outside life stops, we prioritize, get quality time, slow way down, and find cozy, quiet things to do. Maybe it's because it pulls at my mama-bear strings too, that I look somewhat fondly upon those days.

Now it sounds like I like it when my kids are sick... I hope you know what I'm saying! LOL
