weekend adventures.

We went on an adventure yesterday, to a (not too) far away place that the boys had never been before. We needed to add to our camping supplies for the summer, and knew the boys would find the 165,000 square feet of Cabela's pretty interesting.

The boys had a fun day strolling through the aquarium and checking out tents, boats, fishing poles, ATVs, camping supplies and so much more. I think the two most exciting things included a) both boys getting their own new fishing poles, and b) both boys getting turns in the archery range where they were able to use a bow. They did not want to leave, and A definitely wants to take an archery class this summer.

Of course the first thing they wanted to do today was practice casting with their fishing rods. They both had a quick 'how to' with us, and then got started. They spent a lot of time outside today casting over and over and over - they even put out some markers so they had a spot to aim for. Fun!

I only got bonked in the head with a practice weight once (and that was because I thought I should rake the beds while the boys were casting). Not bad!!!  ;)

That looks like a blast! My oldest stepson took both fishing and archery classes at camp last summer and is obsessed with both now. Fun stuff!

Getting bonked on the head with a practice weight was at least better than getting snagged with a hook. :) I don't know why we've never thought to let our kids practice casting w/out the hook! Sounds like a fun store you visited.

Cabela's- a virtual wonderland for my husband and son. Thank goodness we don't have a store nearby!

The boys are so cute practicing their casting. Will they be fishing for salmon or trout??

I keep meaning to take my kids to the one here. It's about a 30 minute drive, but usually when we're in the area we've already done a full days outing and are ready to just go home.

Sounds like so much fun. We enjoy camping, but haven't gone fishing yet with our little one. It's been a long time since I have been.

We always drool when a Cabela's catalog comes around...and we drove by SO MANY of them on our route from NY to ID last summer and never got to stop in :-( I always crack up at the Mossy Oak camouflage linens!

Fun trip!
We are in the market for a new tent and a campstove. I'm going to be brave and go camping this summer!

This is so exciting! Cabela's huh? Place blows me away. I can't wait to see more fishing and archery posts! I haven't taken the boys casting lately, but we have actual casting ponds near the house--all you need are hula hoops and a pond ;)
I'll show you!
