sunshine.

During this dark cloudy no snow December we keep searching for the light. MORE LIGHT!

We follow the sunshine when it does show up, even for a short time. We dance and play and lay in it.

G loves to scoot the trampoline along, following the trail of sunshine, jumping jumping jumping in the bright golden rays.

it is time.

Oh, this garden. I cannot believe it is June! There are so many things still unplanted, so many trays of seedlings. So much to do, and it is so late. But even with the clock ticking there are moments when I forget the calendar and stare in awe at something just because it is blooming (that bloomed in late April last year). It is always amazing how perfect it all is. I work my butt off to make a sloppy looking pie or struggle with a drawing for hours (days) and the seeds just ... grow ... and bloom in vivid array and make food which nourishes and sustains us. Perfect.

So, I'm behind. Wisconsin is behind. The north is behind. Nature knew what to do though, and waited. So we are behind together. And I think we are ready.

So I hoe and water and plant and dig and crawl on the ground and kneel in the dirt and walk barefooted in the wet morning grass and talk to the chipmunk and whisper to tiny seedlings and sing as I walk past nervous mama birds sitting on blue eggs in perfect nests and feel the sun on my back.

We have just begun...

SUNSHINE!

I think I only need one word. SUNSHINE!

After a few days of (very) cold & dark (again) we had sunshine today. Chilly but who cares.

We had to get OUT OUT OUT! Such big smiles on my boys. We needed that.

Tomorrow more rain - but we had a whole day of skin quenching spirit lifting smile inducing happiness giving energy infusing SUN.

OK. That is all I have to say. SUNSHINE!!!

happy may!

Is it? Could it be? Spring? We had a weekend that felt like early spring. Not really like the first weekend in May, but I'll take sunshine and chilly but not completely freezing any day! The boys even had a few hours of shorts before the cold breeze convinced them pants were in order.

We had a weekend of being outside. State park and a flooded lake for scooping with nets and casting. Playing on the playground. Walking the boardwalk.

Watching wildlife. (I'll just stop right there, and skip past the swarms of flying insects, screaming children running to car sobbing, bugs in eyes, up nose, swallowed!!! ;)

We had a car ferry ride (no bugs!) and drive through small towns.

Lots of basketball in the alley. One on one, with dad, with neighbors, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Some more garden transplanting.

Nerf battles when they needed to come inside to warm up for a bit.

Fresh home made tortillas and lemon loaf.

Swings and climbing and walks.

Just how weekends should be. Happy May!

glorious.

It snowed for hours yesterday, froze last night, and snow is coming again tonight. But it doesn't matter. It is April, it is Wisconsin, and it is Spring. Which means that beauty comes with a toughness to endure this weather. It isn't big and flashy yet - that will come - but it is there if you get close and pay attention. And it is glorious.

here comes the sun

My sweet boys are feeling much better, and after 10+ days of it all, I am thankful to see it coming to an end. After a snowstorm early in the week, we have had some wonderful blue skies and intense sunshine to follow. Sun on fresh white snow brightens everything. Perfect for lifting our spirits and giving us a boost.

That sun draws us to it - to play, bask, and sit in its rays. Tea parties in the front window. Puppet shows in the bright spotlight.

Lots of tea parties and puppet shows in the sunshine :).

Recuperation with snuggles, books, puzzles, board games, cards, and yummy blueberry smoothies. Thank you, sun.
