fizzy foamy fun.
Science is fun. (No, really!) Lately A has been into being a scientist and conducting experiments, so we have been exploring different kinds of projects.
We had a chance to play with our fizzy foamy science kit over the last few days. It is all stuff we could do at home with a few simple materials, but having the list of experiments was nice for a starting place. The boys loved to measure, pour, scoop, observe, compare, chart, and chat.
They learned about single celled organisms, carbon dioxide, chemical reactions, liquid properties, yeast, and how similar things react in different environments. They were interested to watch how rapidly yeast grows, foams, and emits carbon dioxide.
And they got to blow bubbles in soap. Bonus!

Oh wow, what fun you guys have. I love doing activities with the kids and you are the master of it....xxx
i never really like science class at school - probably because it was never this much fun!
If it foams, fizzes or makes bubbles it's a winner! Love the goggles ;)
Great photos! I'm enjoying your blog, and learning alot! I homeschool ( er UNschool) my daughter, and she is LOVING science!
You know this is my/our kind of "few days"!!
:)
I was just going through things in my head, thinking what science experiments today??? :)
That looks like a great science kit. Your boys are lucky to have such wonderful parents who do these fun science experiments with them.
Great time with science!
We have the same magnifying glass as you:)
I love this... such fun!!!
hands-on science is the best! Looks like they had a great time. We are studying rocks right now... not quite as much fun as fizzy bubbly stuff.
So. Much. Fun!!
I love coming here to see all your creative and inspiring learning. My girl is a lot older but it is still fun to see such a loving, creative family.
What's really good about these lab studies is that the boys are being exposed to measuring, comparing and playing with "stuff."
You don't know how many kids I got in freshman science who had never measured something real!
Science IS fun! Looks like they are having a blast!
Did any of your experiments involve Borax? A lot of my experiments require it, but I have been having a hard time finding it in Madison.
Liz - Target and Woodmans both have Borax. :) Usually with the laundry/cleaning supplies aisle.
That does look like fun. And so neat and organized...how DO you do that?
Nice!
Looks like lots of fun and who would have guessed they were learning too ;) Imagine that....
:))
Looks like great fun! My kids love science experiments, mostly the kind where they just put lots of stuff together and create "concoctions" : ) (grass, leaves, soap, perfume, etc....)
That looks like a fun kit--my kids are all about foamy and fizzy. I finally got a huge bag of baking soda and a gallon of vinegar at Costco to keep up with the demand!
Yeah!!! Ford would love this! Thanks for the idea!
