Sidewalk Art.
I don't want to go on about how I cannot move and how bad back pain is. I can walk a little bit without help tonight - which I could not even do AT ALL this morning, so that is a good thing! Instead, how about an awesome image from an art fair I limped through yesterday when my husbands family was all in town for the day. It was a small art fair with a few interesting highlights - one of which was this family creating chalk/pastel art on the street - amazing (click on the image to enlarge)!
A had to go rub and feel the chalk and street (of course they were using high quality pastels with good pigment...doesn't come off of hands, face, legs or clothing!) and was so interested in their work.
While in art college I often drew chalk art on parking lots and sidewalks with friends from school on those hot summer evenings. It always drew a crowd. I don't think this talented family was getting enough attention for this at the fair...so here they are!
I have always wanted to stumble upon something like this ... I'm so glad that you did for me!!
ReplyDeleteThat is incredible! I don't know how in the world they could manage the proportions easily enough at that scale and do that for a crowd. I'm floored!
ReplyDeleteVery very sorry about the pain. I had hoped that the Arnica was going to help more.
That chalk art is so beautiful. What an incredible talent!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for you with this ongoing back pain. :(
That brings a whole new meaning to chalking on a summer day!!! My humbly drawn cats and hopscotch courts must we washed off in rain RIGHT NOW!!! I hope your back is feeling better soon!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! What dedications to make wonderful art like this only to be washed away. That's truly amazing! It also looks a little tough on the knees and back!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute!
Sounds like your back was much more painful than mine. I'm good as new now, I think... sometimes in the morning I'm a bit stiff. Hope you feel better soon!
That is amazing! Maybe all those tubs of sidewalk chalk will pay off one of these days:)
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous! Our local community college holds a judged sidewalk painting fair every year in May. It always gets a crowd and the artists actually make a bit of profit. I love sidewalk art, my kids and I dabble in it alot, though nothing so grandious as the Mona Lisa.LOL Blessings.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That is amazing...and not an easy thing to do. For a couple of years I helped kids at the Annual Chalk Festival and it truely can be a work of art. I am so pleased to find your site...Your craft ideas are awesome, your boys are adorable and I am happy to get a glimpse of Madison!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you were a trooper yesterday, I hope you get some relief soon...Take Care~
Love the chartreuse background on Mona!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Thanks for the details on the materials. I was wondering how they got such saturated colors.
ReplyDeleteWow, when I was in art school we spent our time hanging out in "the pit" the sculpture, ceramics and glass-blowing studios. You actually went for air and light! You were clearly a much healthier art student than my crowd!
Hope your back feels better soon!
Wow, that's great!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your back woes continue!
When you feel better, you should look into Pilates, which helped me a lot.
I am fascinated by wonderful chalk art like this but don't have a clue where to get any supplies besides the standard kids bucket-o-pastel colors. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteReally sorry to hear about your continuing back pain. Sending healing thoughts.
wow fantastic...
ReplyDeletei hope your back is feeling better...yikes...no fun to be down and out.
So sorry to hear that your back is still so sore. I can recommend a good masseuse, if interested...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your back pain. It's so hard to be laid up. I hope you feel better.-Amy
ReplyDeleteBackpain is so debilitating. Hope you shed it soon. Think back about the week before it started. Somewhere, probably quite unconsciously, you were feeling unsupported. The body manifests what we feel.Lack of support , ficancial, emotional, work, or other, always presents as back pain. If we can get to the emotional source and forgive the percieved wrong done to us (pretty easy), and forgive ourselves for the hurt we have taken on (dashed difficult), the body heals very quickly. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and delightful, creative family.
Just BEE-utiful! Thanks for sharing! Too bad they didn't get much attention at the fair.
ReplyDeleteHope your back is better today.
I've been thinking about you and hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDelete(this chalk art is just amazing...I've seen people doing this on Library Mall before...so cool.)
