first snow.

Ah, first snow. We look forward to it every year. The anticipation and wondering when it will finally come. The air smells different. The birds huddle up in the bushes. The light changes.

Today we finally had first snow. Just enough to play in, build mini-snow people, throw around and do a few snow angels. Just enough to pull out the coats and snow pants and boots. Just enough to lay the garden down. Just enough to come in cold and wet with rosy cheeks and drink warm elderberry lemonade. Just enough to let us know winter is coming.

It will warm up enough to melt and we won't have anything stick for a few more weeks at least. But today was just enough.

Bon Hiver!

  4. Bon hiver! We had first snow weeks ago, but it melted and no there's no more. I'm glad, even though it gets so much darker.

  5. Yay! Snow!
    And pretty pictures!
    And happy boys!

I'm not sure when our next round is coming. Hopefully lots around Thanksgiving. (Don't like looking for a tree when it's warm and dry. :) )

  6. Oh, Denise... I have never even heard of warm elderberry lemonade, and I can't even imagine how yummy it is. I am just more convinced then ever that you should be my neighbor :)

  7. Your boys look happy! What a different experience here just 90 miles away. I think we got just under 6 inches of snow. Mmmm, elderberry lemonade sounds great. We went with hot apple cider :)

  9. Hello new friend...coming here with an off post comment to make sure you personally knew that no harm was done at Heathers. It is so hard at times to come across with words that make sense to your heart. I believe we were both on the right path with what we shared. Trying to encourage Heather to continue writing and to just be herself like we all should be.Blessings!

  10. Peggy - Definitely. I just wanted to be sure my rambling abstract comment (must drink my coffee BEFORE commenting in the mornings? ha!) wasn't perceived as negative when I meant it as positive. :) xo D
