While I am known to not be a big fan of summer heat, I do have an ongoing love affair with (
bug less) summer evenings. The light changes, the breezes shift, the air smells of earth and plants and water, and things just feel different.
I love taking the boys out for summer evenings...ice cream or p
opsicles, walks, parks, beaches.
It is quiet. Not many people are out. And it seems we all just sink in and just talk and enjoy each others company.
It may be simple, but I love it. We all love it. Even in this
unschooling life full of time to be together, there are moments that are a little *more* because we consciously create them, knowing we are in the moment together.
Just us. On a beautiful summer night. And life is good.
It looks like a beautiful summer you're having. Your boys are getting SO big!
ReplyDeleteThose evenings, the special light, the way the world slows down, they are what life is about.
ReplyDeleteSo good. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this... Special times like this are the best.
ReplyDeleteLife IS good. Happy Summering!
ReplyDeleteOh, I coudln't agree more. I was just thinking (while outside picking peas) that in another few months it'll be dark at this time...and we'll be settling in for bed. I'm so happy to take adventage of this summer days while they are here - even if we dislike the heat. :)
ReplyDeleteThat last post was me...I hit something and it was submitted. Oops. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the long and late summer evenings.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise, am a follower of yours and love your creative approach to everyday life with kids. I'm the editor of a young parenting magazine in germany and want to ask you, if you'd like to cooperate with us for some autumn projects. I've remembered things you did with leaves - dip them in wax, make garlands, remember?
ReplyDeleteIf this sounds interesting, just send me an E-mail to
mvs@kidslife-magazin.de
or respond back on my blog - it's my private art-blog though, not much to do with the magazine. More of that on www.kidslife-magazin.de
Mmmm, yes, and yum. To summer evenings, spent knowing you're in the thick of a moment so good you can taste it, to togetherness, to long evenings of slow time, light seeping, talking, being. To all of it, embracing it, as you are!
ReplyDeleteI love summer, but am finding winter here to be magic too. It's in all sorts of weather, I'm discovering, if you go looking. Kind of lovely.
Thanks for all these beautiful photos, Denise and for sharing your evening!
Beautiful thoughts. We love the summer evenings too.
