"...We run through the sprinkler, water on our lips. Water dripping from eyelashes. Water like fat raindrops that fall from skinny trees when you're not looking. I run like a monkey in my orange swimming trunks, jumping up and down, pounding the mushy grass with my feet..."

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! Yay for water play :). Is that a new kind of slip and slide?? Looks very cool (no pun intended)!!
ReplyDeletegreat pics!!! a lot of fun ! send us some sun, it's raining on my little island !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Denise! I love those photos. So much!
ReplyDeleteHere in Oz those water slide thingies are a thing of the past. Because of the big ol' drought we had for years and years and years—it got pretty serious and you had to be really frugal with your water. My kids probably wouldn't even recognise what your kids are doing in these pics! Strange, huh.
So I'm sitting here, reminiscing… back to childhood and jumping through those fat drops…back to another time. And smiling :)
Helena - We haven't had a drought here for as long as I can remember but I know what you mean as I have lived in areas like that (southern california and new mexico)...and we move the thing around while they play on it so we are using the water to actually water plants too. :) I can't help myself.
ReplyDeleteI hope your kids get to experience a slip n slide or sprinkler hopscotch some day! :)
MJ- Funny enough our yard isn't even big enough for a slip n slide (they make them so big anymore) and A doesn't like sprinklers. So, we have been keeping an eye out - this thing is hopscotch. It is pretty small and is the hopscotch game squares surrounded by the tubing with water. So if you land on the squares correctly, you make it through with water only hitting up to your knees, but if you miss and hit the edge, then it squirts water up to about head level, soaking you. :)
