happy spring!

Our first days of spring have been very spring-like. Cloudy, wet. But Saturday? Oh, we had a glimpse and it was glorious. Enough to tide us over.

We took a walk at one of our favorite spots - the local botanical garden not too far from home. While most things were still brown and slushy ice covered the ponds, there were signs of growth. The earliest spring bulbs were blooming - so tiny, but demanding that you kneel down to see.

The magnolias have buds, and little creatures scuttled past (voles!) while the birds were so loud and busy it was hard not to walk around looking up into the trees.

While it was just 50 degrees, it was sunny...so we were able to walk and the boys run run run without hat or gloves. Ahhhh.

I got a glimpse of the view I have every year from April to November...the boys running full speed ahead as I jog to keep up. ;)

We are going to have cold and dark days for awhile, even more snow, but we got some buds, flowers, sunshine and fresh air and we are satisfied. For now.

Can you tell?

Just what we all needed!

  3. Sally - aren't they? A especially, is SO tall. wow-za.

Nikoke - We start going several times a week soon here. A goes through each section memorizing all the plants. Last year he did all the crab apples (!) and herb garden. This year he wants to do all the willows and rosees. ;) We should meet there for kids roaming/running before you move away!

  5. It helps to see all the beautiful new blossoms as I catch a glimpse of the falling snow out my window.....sheesh! I thought Spring was here but it just made a quick pit stop on it's way somewhere else.

  8. Sibling love makes my heart ache. My brother and I are not at all alike and never shared that sort of love. And...Isaac is an only child and so when I see my friend's kids so devoted to one another it makes my heart skip a beat - but in a good way. I'm so happy your beautiful boys have each other.

Spring showed up here for a couple days...but we are in for up to 15cm of snow overnight. Yee Ha! <3

  9. Tara - I know! It is sleeting here now, snow tomorrow!!

Jean - I have SO MANY photos of the backs of the boys...too funny!

Lisa - A was inspired after realizing some of the cool names of the crab apples. His favorite is 'King Arthur'. So interesting! They like to see how many they can identify in the spring before flowers/blooms. And then the boys 'compete' in the summer, running around to see who can identify the most plants the fastest (as I run behind to keep up! ha!).

Debbie - I am the oldest, and just old enough to have always been more of the babysitter (or mom figure) and not close sibling, so I know what you mean. I do love that my guys are so close and best of friends. At 20 months apart, it is an easy closeness. They hate being apart EVER!!!! :)

  13. Just beautiful, Denise! I hope warm days (not too warm, of course) come your way very soon. I too, have many, many photos of my kids' backs. It's so great to see your boys arm in arm. So often the stereotype is that siblings are at one another's throats. My two are like yours, happy to be together. Happy Spring!

ps, captcha--"snerish". As in, "oh you know her, she's so snerish."
