hatched!
We have hatched robins! Yesterday I checked and saw one had hatched, and by this afternoon we have 3. Only one little egg left, most likely will hatch in the next day or so. They are so tiny. Little bits of pink skin and fuzz.
We have been reading about robin eggs and juveniles, and we only have 10-15 days after hatching before they start to dive out of the nest. The nest is just above my eye level, so I have been holding the camera up in the air and taking pix down into the nest when the mom is gone. I did get a video for the boys too - we don't want to disturb them too much, but they really want to see as we go along. The birds picked the perfect spot for the nest - our yard has lots of spots to hide, lots of worms, fresh water, and an arbor with pot holders which is so convenient for nest building.
Very exciting!
they are gorgeous! you all are so lucky! enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting to see this wonderful process unfold! Wee little baby birds are so sweet to see.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply amazing!!! Hope you have a fun weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! We had a nest in a nasty, thorny locust tree. We saw four beautiful eggs, they hatched and the next thing we knew- they were gone!
ReplyDeleteAw, this is really sweet as can be. Great job capturing such a young bird. :)
ReplyDeleteahh, they are so cute!! How wonderful to be so close to them! I love listening to their little hungry cries. We had an injured crow in our yard yesterday. I was all prepared to take him to the local wildlife hospital when he flew away. It is so amazing to be so close to nature!!
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend

How totally awesome! It must be magical to watch all the stages.
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful that you were able to see them so very fresh and now follow them along on their cute little journey of growth!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful photo! I've never seen blue eggs in real life - amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe continue to keep our eyes out for nests...but never have much luck up here!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that you have these little hatchlings right in your viewpoint. That little beak opened wide...so cute!

Oh so exciting! I bet the boys are thrilled, as well as you. lol Blessings.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing is that!!! We have a nest that we can see outside our window, (in a big pine tree)...I'm going to have to show my daughter this pic so she can see what a baby robin looks like!
ReplyDeleteThe Robin is Englands national bird and they are very tame (will feed out of your hand)They are noted for building thier nests in most unusual places eg. A garden boot, watering can, plant pot, wheel barrow. They seem to know that we wont turf them out and we will wait patiently for our equipment whilst they raise thier chicks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Welcome little birds!
