fired up.
About a week ago we took a trip to a local ceramics studio for the boys to do the paint your own pottery. A picked a truck coin bank, and G picked the classic piggy.
They had a lot of fun painting the ceramics - it took a few layers to be sure that the color would be intense when fired. They carefully painted on the details, and added their names with a special 'pen'. A went brush happy with the black on the windows. Even my husband painted for a bit (while I helped the boys) - doing several layers on a coffee mug before asking me to add some details.
Yesterday we got the call that they had been fired and were ready. G loves his shiny blue & green polka dotted piggy bank. It is full already, as you can see.
A likes his truck - it is the perfect green for him, and his racing number shows up clearly! His has a bit more room for change, so he has some saving to do.
We even like the mug - although my husband wants to take it to work, and I want it for my tea. Ahem. ;)
I love the car and the bank!!
ReplyDeleteThey're darling.
That isn't something we've done, yet. Maddie would love it, I know.
Guess I should find out....
We love our local ceramics shop, so fun!
ReplyDeleteNice mug! Perhaps you should take the boys back and make him one for Father's Day ;)
Oh they look great! Lydia has been bothering me to take her back to our local painting place. It's been almost a year I am shamed to say. Your boys did a fab job on theirs. Love the mug too!
ReplyDeletethat looks like so much fun! you have two little artists! have a great week denise:)
ReplyDeleteGreat painting!
ReplyDeleteI'm with G on the cute piggy bank....
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice activity to do with the boys... I think a pottery class may be in the cards for this fall.
Awww...their piggy/truck banks turned out great. We haven't done that in a while. I like your mug; I think I'd keep it for tea too. :)
ReplyDeleteThose really did come out nicely-love the colors!
ReplyDeleteLove the banks and the mug! We used to have a ceramic shop as well, but it went out of business....bummer.
ReplyDeleteLisa :)
I want that mug...it is awesome! Of course A & G's money banks are pretty cool! What a fun family project to go do!
ReplyDeleteI think that mug would be perfect for a steaming hot black coffee in it...smiles!
Wow those colors are brilliant! They look quite pleased with their results.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been to paint pottery in so long. Last time Z made a dragon that he was sure wouldn't be bright enough. We were surprised at how colorful they are once they've been fired.

That mug is wonderful. It looks like chocolate melting over the top. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun. Your boys both did a great job painting. I love the coffee mug...it makes me think of chocolate spilling over the top.
