icy sunday.

Ahhhh. A Sunday at home. We were going to leave and do some things, really, but when we woke up the world was covered in ice, and we decided to have a nice day at home.

It wasn't a little bit of ice either, it was quite a bit. Yes, that is my husband ice skating down the sidewalk this morning...before the sand went down. Thick ice.

The boys had a fun day. They jumped on the trampoline.

A lot.

We baked YUMMY whole wheat strawberry muffins.

We played many board games, read books, made things, snuggled, cracked geodes.

We watched the birds skid, slide, and freak out on the deck. Made more things, jumped more on the trampoline, played more, read more books, did many puzzles, and played more board games. I even finished cleaning/organizing the dining room and craft supplies. A perfect Sunday! Hope you had a nice weekend~

We've got some ice here too, because we had a bit of thaw recently. . . . not enough for skating, just enough to fall on your tuchus if you're not careful :-)

I HATE falling (dislocating one's knees repeatedly will do that) and so it's easy for me to stay in the house for days if I don't force myself to be brave.

  2. Sounds like a wonderful sunday :)
We've had lots of snow, but it's been so clod, -20C so there has been very little time playing in the frsh snow...

    Have a great week!

  3. That skating photo made my day! I kept thinking that a little trampoline would be fun inside, but then realized that Hels would bonk her head on the ceiling if she used it...

  4. We stayed home all morning too. But the natives were restless and so we had to take them out to dinner. When they saw the parking lot of the restaurant, our oldest said, "Why the heck are we out walking on this?" (we pulled up right in front of the restaurant so the walking on ice was way minimal) Ahh, to be a six-year-old.

  7. It does sound like a perfect Sunday!

I can't believe he had iceskates on the sidewalk! But what a marvelous way to get somewhere.

This reminds me (for some reason, probably because it's so dang cold and snowy up there) you know how in grumpy old men Walt (I think that's his name) wears one of those old-fashioned (mens) winter hats that come down, fur or fleece lined lined over the ear sections?, then strings dangle?
My neighbor across the street was wearing one yesterday while using his snow-blower.
I sooooooo wanted a picture, but I didn't dare get a picture of him - didn't want to offend him (or give him more reason to think I'm crazy)
... that was a Perfect Sunday thing for me!! :)

  8. AAHHHHHH HAAAAAAA!!!! A TRAMPOLINE!!!!!! PERFECT!!!!
It's been -1o+ this past week with no signs of change in the near future. Poor Lo lasts about 15 min outside and then it's back in for some coccoa. A trampoline would be great for her to get some of that energy out. Do they seem pretty safe? Have you had any problems with yours?

  14. That trampoline has got to be a great way for the boys to burn off some energy!

The ice has been crazy (and I think that you might have had slightly more). My sidewalk is clear, but anything beyond that, like the roads, is still treacherous.

  16. Cool - I don't think I've ever seen someone ice skating on the sidewalk - I grew up in Madison and thought I had seen it all!
