Friday was finally a hot summery day! We visited a local ice cream shop (Monona Bait and Ice Cream), and then walked across the street to our favorite city beach to play.
The boys played and ran in the sand, threw rocks into the lake, dug holes and filled them with lake water, and sat out on the dock. It was so windy the dock rocked and rolled and swayed.
G was a bit wobbly as we rocked up and down, but said it felt like we were on a boat ride. It was nice to sit and watch the water, birds and boats.
A lovely afternoon!
Note: Today (Saturday) we have had some intense weather in southern Wisconsin. I know that there are several of you live in the areas where there were tornadoes spotted...hope you are all safe and sound.
(Monona Bait and Ice Cream)~ How funny! I think you have to really trust the proprietors to eat ice cream from the bait store. I wonder if they have a flavor with gummy worms...........
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
Sharon - I know! They serve ice cream from the UW-Madison creamery - very good. The front is an old-fashioned soda fountain, and then the back is coolers with bait and tackle. It is a popular local spot, as it is right across the street from the lake & beach! :)
ReplyDeleteToday was ninety degrees, after working most of the day, we hopped in the car to get some really good ice cream that is made from local dairy in what is probably the second smallest town in the US! Then we went to Blueberry Lake, where friends have a dock at a private lake. Summer is here! Though the water is still cold!
ReplyDeletesounds like a very nice afternoon

I love the ice cream picture. It was more of a hot chocolate kind of day here. Madison looks like such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteI remember that place!-- we would often bike to it. It gave a good reason to take a break and relax in the middle of the ride. Plus - great ice cream...yum.
