Introducing...

Many of you asked what the boys named the little doves (who are growing so FAST!). After careful deliberation, they decided to name them Peep and Coo.

Peep and Coo are silent so far - but I'm sure they will live up to their names as they get bigger!

Here they are having breakfast. The boys have loved watching the doves eat - it is so interesting to see the adult shake and wiggle to generate the milk, before both little doves crane their necks up to drink from the mouth!

  2. One of our recent joys, and this is EVERY year, is watching the mama grackle going around with her babies, feeding them and teaching them to pick their own bugs. SO sweet.

I love watching these doves (hatch and) grow.

  5. Peep and Coo are perfect names and they're adorable!

Funny how you were able to make the whole regurgitation thing sound not so disgusting!!! :)

  6. Sharon - Haaaahaha. Yes, the boys love watching that in particular. A few times the parent bird has pulled away with big stringy globs of the "cheesy milk" attached. Ha! They love it though.

I will say that the dove regurgitation isn't as bad as turkey vultures...my son loves (LOVES) that they projectile vomit up to 20 feet when scared or encountering predators. Ewww.

  7. Oh then he'll LOVE that Zoe's Horned Toad/Lizard can shoot blood from his eyes 5 feet!
