The blood-draw story is interesting, too. It is a hard call as to what to tell a kid with something like that. On the one hand, you don't want to unduly frighten a little one beforehand, but on the other hand, some technicians have a hard time finding a vein. So it's a hard call.
Pizza night: You know, we haven't had homemade pizza in...well, forever, it seems. It looked so yummy that when N. gets back from camp, I think we'll do it. I'll get supplies today!
I know - The hard thing I suppose is that the 4 year old believes that adults (and everyone) tell only the truth, and doesn't know about manipulation as a mild means to an end, or intention, or any of that. All he knows is she said one thing, and it was not true, and she didn't seem to care, respond, or react to his pain. I know it is one of those little "life lessons" about truth or trust or whatever, but it doesn't make it any easier on anyone! And I don't know if I am ready for my 4 year old to see through his happy world veil.
Your boys are gorgeous.
