Snow, snow, and more snow!

On Tuesday the snow started and grew into a raging blizzard. So much snow, wind, ice. When it finally stopped Wednesday afternoon, we headed outside to dig ourselves out.

The snow, even in the most shallow places was too deep for little legs, and the boys spent ages struggling to walk - finally giving up and instead crawling on hands and knees!

There were even a few rescue operations.

Now the snow is now plowed and there are deep areas where the boys want to dig forts and tunnel along. Today the temperatures dropped so low (well below zero) that we couldn't venture outside for long, but by this weekend we should have warmer (up into the 20's!) weather ... perfect for fort building.

We'll be ready!

Oh wow! I grew up in the snow and I remember days like this. Beautiful pics!

Here near Sacramento, CA, it's been freezing temperatures and just a teeny bit of snow!

I think Madison got more snow than we did! Our car was in the shop in Madison and apparently they weren't even open for business on Wednesday...must have been quite a blizzard!

I bet a pair or two snowshoes would be fun for your boys! Walking on snow is always more fun (in my opinion) than sinking into it. Perhaps that's just me though!

Love those jackets!

Wow-what a winter wonderland! We've only had a few inches here. I want so much snow that we can't get out for a week! Love those cozy hoods.

I told the boys that their new coats got lots of nice comments. :)

We went to get a new coat for A, but his brother wanted one just.like.his.big.brother picked out, and not the hand-me-down. So they both got new matching coats. They are very warm and the deep hoods are great with this wind.

Astrid--most of Madison got in the 14-15" range, but we have read reports that far east where we are was more like 18-19", which seems about right. Everything was indeed closed Wednesday and not much better yesterday. Roads are still a joke, but if you stay on a very main road, you can at least get through! HOpe you could make it in for your car, at least!

Snowshoes are on our list for the winter...but the boys also want to take snowboarding lessons at Tyrol Basin, so that may trump snowshoes for now!

Dawn - I think they made snowangels for everyone in North America, so you are covered! :D
