Mini getaway.

I have been a bit burned out lately. Too much work and not enough fun! Friday I was pretty tired - and the boys were asking for a vacation. So we dropped everything, found a hotel room in town, packed up and headed out for a one night getaway.

After checking in, we first went to the pool.

We found a new park to play in.

We walked to a restaurant for dinner.

And at 6PM we decided - hey, lets go to the county fair. So we got ready and headed over.

It was actually a great time to go, as it was cooling down and not too crowded. We ventured into the carnival part for a moment to pick up some cotton candy but then we went to see the animals. The county fair is all about the kids showing their animals. We met lots of kids of all ages - all so nice and willing to chat with the boys, talk about their animals, and let the boys touch, snuggle and visit. We visited horses, goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, llamas, sheep...we were there at a good time too, as many animals were being fed dinner, kids were camped out in the buildings near their animals, and many larger animals (cows, horses) were getting cool showers or out walking around with their owners. I was too busy conversing with each animal we visited to take many photos. ;)

Leaving for 24 hours means that there was a lot of catching up to do today, but it was worth it!

My favorite art of the fair is also watching the kids show their animals. We got away for a day trip yesterday. So nice!

What a sweet get away. I am looking forward to a 2 day mini-vacation in August. But I am already anticipating the work I will have to do when I get back, but sometimes ya just gotta get away.

A simple overnight away can be so rejuvenating, or at least relaxing. I'm glad that you got away for a bit.

How refreshing! Glad you were able to get away and have some fun!

What pool and park is that pictured? They look neat. You always have great ideas for fun places in and around Madison!

We were there on Sunday afternoon. Those daredevils were amazing. And crazy!!! We usually love seeing all the animals but this year was all about thrills and sugar. ;)

Would you ever want to meet up at a park or something?

We skipped out on the fair this year, unfortunately. There have been quite a few summer buzzing events, and with each its obvious Oliver just isn't into the crowd.
The art fair this year lasted all of 4 booths before we scraped that idea and went to Ians for pizza and the childrens museum.

I would have liked to see the animals, and I'm glad A&G got to.

Your trip looked like a lot of fun! Drop me a line when things slow down and you want to get the boys together.

Oh, yeah - it's Fair time. My youngest is putting the finishing touches on her projects for our fair this weekend. Three times a day of walking her sheep and getting them to set-up is keeping her busy.

Fair time can be stressful, but well worth it in the end.
