CSA Season.
The boys enjoy being able to get out of the car to go in and pick up our CSA share each week. There is a giant walk in cooler, a big chalkboard, massive washing basins, lots of 'stuff', and of course water runoff (meaning: mud) and big farm equipment parked near the outbuilding. They had a special treat this week as they were chatting with the lady who helps everyone get what they need...and she even walked out with them and let them climb up into the cab of an old tractor. They were in heaven!
Each week we take a photo of our CSA box and post it to our food blog. We have some fun kid friendly recipes planned when we get our flats of strawberries too - yum!

Wow! I didn't know you had a food blog......where have I been!
Your little one is looking very fierce......I'm kinda worried about that cucumber!!! :)
I forgot about the food blog! I'm glad you mentioned it again; I just subbed. :)
how cute are your kids...i just love the cucumbers on their heads. they are intense.
Wow, CSAs are just fantastic! Popping aross to your food blog now ...
Doncha love it!?
Me too! I didn't know you had a food blog... I'll check it out.
Yummy looking veggies. The boys look might strong hefting them cukes! Eat your veggies, grow big muscles! :)
Yum! I harvested and ate my first cucumber last night. Your boys are so cute and I'm guessing they are pretty enthusiastic about eating that produce as well. Thanks for the reminder about the food blog...I forgot as well but now I'm subscribed to it on my reader.
Dawn--you would think that with all of the farm visits, having a CSA, growing a large garden of food, eating organic, and focusing on whole foods (not processed stuff) the boys would LIKE veggies fresh from the garden/farm. ;) Well, my 5 year old is actually a super sensitive kid - smells, texture - so has a very difficult time. We have to work carefully around all of that so he eats well and yet doesn't gag (lots of juicing, fresh veggie/fruit smoothies, and all that). I figure though, that if he grows up around it, when his sensory issues balance out, he will be ready! :)
Cute! I've been avoiding taking my daughter to our CSA pick ups... The farmers have five sons and the oldest one seemed very eager to help us out the day she was with. Eeeek! Not ready for that! :-)
Glad your produce is finally coming in.
Can't wait until we can do this as well! Last week our friends came by with all there CSA greens and split them in half with us because it was way too much for them! We have been having the most WONDERFUL salads!!!! It is so true that you can taste the difference between organic and not-organic produce! It's so full of LIFE!
