I go among trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet
Around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
Where I left them, asleep like cattle…
Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
And the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.
~Wendell Berry
I have been feeling like my creativity is tied to the weather - up and down, cold and warm, sunny and cloudy. The boys seem perfectly happy with the ups and downs of April though - getting outside as soon as a glimmer of sun comes up, and coming inside when it rains. They also enjoyed a surprise visit from my sister - always a good excuse to get out and do something different!
I have been feeling the spring itch -- all of my cleaning and sorting and organizing this week has me in the mood for some warmth and sunshine so I can throw open the windows and let it all in!

I'm feeling "the spring itch", too. Even if winter seems to have come back here. We don't have snow anymore but it's still too cold for this time of the year. I just can't wait for warmer days!
So that's what you've been up to- sorting and organizing and cleaning!! It needs to begin here soon-moving boxes arrive tomorrow.
April is a fickle month. Enjoy the warm days and fresh air.
I'd never heard that poem before and I love it. The photo looks so peaceful. I've really got the cleaning/organizing bug lately also. Have a great day.
I gnome house!
Oh yes I've been bitten by that spring cleaning bug as well! It's so nice to go to the park to play again.
I'm enjoying the poems you are posting and want to share one of my favorites by Shel Silverstein. Although I like to replace "beard" with "hair":)
My Beard
My beard grows down to my toes,
I never wears no clothes,
I wraps my hair
Around my bare,
And down the road I goes.
We can't leave the weather out of it, can we? Is the timing of this post another miracle of accidental, spontaneous, invisible synchronicity? Either way, we're all in this together.
I love the melancholic poems of Wendell Berry, beautiful photos to go along with the poem. It is a sign of spring when you see fleece pull-overs instead of bulky winter coats.
"Let the sun shine, let the sunshine in, the sun shine in...." from "Hair"
Spring!
At this time of the year, my mood and energy fluctuate with the weather, just as yours does. When it is acting like spring, I clean, sort, organize and find ways to get outside. When the weather thinks it's winter, I want to curl up with a good book.
Lovely poem. I am going to have read more of Barry.
That first shot is gnarly dude! ;) Xxx
That's about the coolest tree I've ever seen! :)
And the photo of the boys? Absolutely delightful!
Amen to the bit about moods coinciding with the weather. I'd been feeling so LOW the past couple days, and then... today.. it was bright and warm and like magic I feel good again!
